Prepare to Travel - A month to declutter - Day One - Bathroom

One of the hardest things about traveling is thinking of all the things you have left undone at home. That "STUFF"that you need to take care of but never get around to. Not only does it physically inhibit your space, it mentally invades as well, taking up thinking space. For the next 31 days I will post about what to declutter that day. It doesn't have to take long. Put on a song that will motivate you, sing out loud whilst you declutter. Free your home and your mind. Your travels will be sweeter afterwards, I guarantee it.

I am an avid collector of those "free" hotel shampoos, conditioners, soaps, toothbrush sets etc. They are complimentry, right? Well, unless they compliment your bathroom, either use them, give them away, or throw them out. Once I kept a few in my suitcase on a trip, "In case I needed them". WRONG!!!! They were still in my case when I returned home lol.

I recently went through my stash of bathroom products and put them into four piles.

  1. Products I would absolutely use in the few months

  2. Product that my teenage nieces would love (i.e. makeup I would never get to use)

  3. Products I bagged up and then gave to a homeless man at my church to distribute

  4. Products I threw out

I don't miss anything I gave away, and my bathroom is less cluttered. There was actually stuff in there that I had when my kids were at home, over ten years ago.

This next step is a MUST. After you finish your bathroom declutter, go do something special that you love, just for you. You deserve a reward. Mine is a sipping a cup of herbal tea whilst I sit on the deck and enjoy just listening.

Please comment about your bathroom cleansing experience on this post, and enjoy the next 30 days of decluttering.

Happy Travels!
