Prepare to Travel - A month to declutter - Day Thirty one - Say Goodbye

Updated: Nov 4, 2023

Welcome to day 31, the last day, of decluttering to free your home and your mind.

a sign says Time To Say Goodbye

Saying goodbye not only to this 31 day declutter series, but saying goodbye to the things you no longer want or need in your life.

I am a fan of Marie Kondo - www.konmari.com.

She has 6 rules of tidying, and some I have quoted in this series.

Her Rule 6 is Ask Yourself if it Sparks Joy.

She states that only you can know what environment makes you happy. Keep the things that bring you joy, say goodbye to those that don't.

Saying goodbye can often be difficult. Giving items to people you know will love them is spreading the love. One item can bring joy to multiple people. I donated a lot of my teddy bears to the Still and Neonatal Death Society, and they in turn donate them to parents of SIDS babies. I knit beanies and little outfits or these cherubs and donate them to the Society as well.

By gifting something to a friend or relative, you can tell them the story that the item has.

I mentioned in another article that a friend of mine has a little ritual where she thanks the item for the purpose it has served and says goodbye, bon voyage. It is an interesting idea, and nice that she has pleasure in getting rid of things in this way.

Keep what you love. Surround yourself with things that bring you joy. I hope that you have read this month of decluttering series and applied it to certain parts of your home, and it brought you a more clutter free and organised abode.

Please feel free to comment about any of the cleanses that you experienced. I would love to hear from you. I also hope you have subscribed to this page and follow my posts. See you soon!

Happy Travels!
